Makindye Church which is found in Makindye Political District in Kampala Metropolitan Area is celebrating 25 years since it was started.

In 1993, young men from Najjanankumbi Church decided to make an evangelistic meeting which was led by the late President of Central Uganda Field Pr. S.K. Sendawula Sekikubo in Makindye and this gave birth to the current Makindye SDA Church.
The celebrations  which takes the whole month of April  with each  Sabbath led by  either  Children, Women, Youth and Men  Ministries respectively  will climax in the  main celebration taking place on the Sabbath of 28th  April  2018 at Makindye Church.

The Youth Sabbath which fell on the 14th April had a theme “It is Time” and the Guest Speaker was Pr. Kaggwa Rogers (Education and Communications Director of CUC) who worked in Makindye as District Pastor between 2010 and 2012.
Using the story of Abraham and Isaac in Genesis 22 he called on youth to accept God’s Call to service in the time of their youth. He noted that God required of Abraham to sacrifice his son in the prime of his youth. He tasked them to serve God at 25 years though this is the time when all youth want “freedom” from books, parents, responsibilities and are looking forward to living their lives “to the fullest”.
Pr. Kaggwa concluded by challenging them to emulate the example of their parents who started Makindye church in their youth, so that they too start a church of Salama Road  to commemorate the 25 year celebration, to which they agreed.
Currently Makindye Church has over 300 members and has started  4 sabbath school branches.
