CUC TRAINS PASTORS IN FAMILY COUNSELLING

The Central Uganda Conference Family Life Ministries made a powerful attempt to save the family from collapsing by having a cross section of pastors train in Family Life Counseling techniques.

The Training, organized by the Adventist Professional Counselors Association was carried out at Bugema University Kampala Campus during the month of July.

The head of the Department at Bugema , Mrs. Nsubuga Esther coordinated the  whole program. The Facilitators included Mrs. Matoya Ruth, Mrs. Mukasa Grace, Mr. Kirya Sam all lecturers of Bugema University.

Over 40 participants   attended over 40 hours of study and practicals covering (including but not limited to)

  1.  Introduction to Basic  Counselling Skills,
  2.   Child  and Adolescent Counselling,
  3.  Family Structure,
  4.  Foundations of Family Counseling,
  5.  Marriage issues.

Mrs. Nyende Sarah, the Uganda Union Education Director, in closing the training requested the participants to go out and “save” the collapsing families. She noted the rate at which divorces are taking place and requested them to be change agents.

Dr. Maka Moses, the Director of Kampala Campus invited the participants to  come for a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology  to  get knowledge  necessary.

Central Uganda Conference   Office was represented by Pr. Alisengawa Jeremiah, Pr. Walugembe Yafesi, Pr. Kaggwa Rogers, Pr. Usaba Josiah, Mrs. Mugerwa Lillian and Pr. Mbabali Yusuf
